Welcome to Tuesday Mr Phelps...Your mission if you choose to accept it is to read a blog that comes out every Tuesday featuring a popular song and relating it to positive, encouraging and sometimes challenging portions of the Bible.  This is a blog that has over 100 total entries and seems to be making quite an impact on the net.  It has been online for over 2 years and has shared the Gospel countless times.  You and your team should read any of the blogs of your favorite songs and then report it to as many of your friends and acquaintances as possible.  Should you or any of your TMN team be caught or captured, the Secretary will immediately acknowledge you and the mission on which you embarked.  Good luck Jim....this message will self....no actually it won't...Welcome to The Notes!!!

Perhaps we have mentioned here at Tuesday's Musical Notes, our intense love for vinyl records.

Just in case it's been awhile or you may be younger than 30 and missed the revival.  The above picture is a vinyl recording of the single "Theme From Mission Impossible.  For many years, prior to iTunes and all things digital, this is the format in which music was recorded, played and enjoyed.  Recently,we had the extreme honor to purchase a collection of vinyl records from a friend.  In this collection was an  entire album of music from the 1966-1973 television show Mission: Impossible.  Yep, before Tom Cruise and company began the movie franchise, Mission: Impossible was a very successful television show.  With its formulaic episodes and theme song that would go as high as #41 on Billboard's Hot 100 with its original release (U2's Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr's version for the movie would go to #7), Mr. Phelps and his team were set to topple dictators and ruin crime bosses with cons, clever disguises, and conniving slight of hands.  Over the course of its existence Mission: Impossible would feature actors that would become huge in television and motion pictures. It is the iconic theme song, however, that people think of when the movie or tv show is mentioned.  It is a song that continues to top TV theme song charts (Top TV Theme Songs ) and inspire a new generation of movie goers to wait for the mask to be removed....

If you are reading Tuesday's Musical Notes, you probably a) have a total love of music regardless of genre and want to know everything you can about your favorite songs, b) are curious to know how in the world popular music can relate to Jesus and the Bible, or c) have an intense desire to increase your passion for both.  We hope this blog can increase passion, encourage love, propel joy, exude hope, and satisfy your desire to win at Trivial Pursuit.  We also hope that if you have stumbled upon this blog, (more than 500 readers have come to Tuesday's Musical Notes in the last 2 years through sites other than facebook or twitter) that you have been exposed to Truth in its easiest and most accessible form.  This Truth comes in the form of Jesus.

The Bible calls Him The Word.  He called Himself The Way, The Truth, and The Life.  The Bible says that no one can have their relationship with God restored without going through Jesus.  Simply put, God created man for relationship with Him.  Man severed the relationship by being disobedient and prideful.
Every person that is born has no relationship with God because of this action by the first man.  God set up a strategy of restoration for man.  God then set His plan to restore the relationship with man, His mission if you will, into motion.  He sent Jesus, His Son to take away the destruction of the broken relationship and restore the affiliation between God and man.  To accomplish this Jesus was subjected to the most inhumane form of capital punishment ever invented by man.  He died and was buried.  3 days later, he was no longer in the tomb and was seen by His disciples...alive...eating...speaking...touching...teaching...sharing!!!   Please take some time and read The Gospel Of Matthew, The Gospel of Mark, The Gospel Of Luke, and The Gospel Of John. These first four books of the Bible's New Testament tell the complete story in a much better way than this mild mannered blog ever can.

His final words to His followers at that time ring true to His followers of our time...."Good evening, (your name goes here with a Mr. or Mrs. in front of it).  Your mission as you have chosen to accept it
because you believe in Me is to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature".  If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.  If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.  Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.   But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.  If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.  He who hates Me hates My Father also.  If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.  But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.

“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.  And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning."

That is our mission.  At times it may seem impossible.  Yet if we are faithful to the best of our ability and rely on God's strength and not our own, we can rest assured that the mission will be accomplished.  So....light the fuse...

'Til Tuesday,
Serving HIM by serving you,
Randy
